Remember this "what is it" question from a few days ago?

It's a.........

pizza and pizza box.  My Girl Scout troop went on a field trip to California Pizza Kitchen.  The girls got to make their own pizzas and tour the kitchen.  We finished up the outing by decorating our own pizza boxes.  The pizzas and boxes were cut on the Cricut using the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge.  The pizza was cut at 4-1/4" and the box at 6".

We decided that this idea would be great as invitations for hosting a pizza party.  The party info could be written on the pizza inside the box.

What Is It????

Here are some cuts to be used for an upcoming project.  Any ideas what I'm making???  All I'll say right now is that it is a project for my Girl Scout troop.  I'll post some finished projects later.  

Finally....The Explosion Box

Sorry for the delay in getting the directions and photos posted for this project.  I worked on the explosion box right up until I had to get ready to leave for the bridal shower, so I had to wait to take photos until after I had already given it to the bride-to-be.  The last few days I have been under the weather and just haven't been able to get myself around to posting.

The paper for each page of the box is boysenberry cardstock from ANW Crestwood that I picked up from open stock at Jo-Ann's.  The lid is made from DCWV metallic silver cardstock.  The lavender paper is Soft Tints Lavender Swirls by Paper Pizazz/Hot Off the Press.  The 'y' is cut using the Mini Monograms cricut cartridge.  The flowers and brads are from the Earth's Palette Creative Pack by Hot Off the Press.  The "bling" around the lid are light purple adhesive gemstones by The Paper Studio.  The stickers used throughout the box are from two sets - Silver Wedding by JoAnn Craft Essentials and Wedding B&W Silver Foil from The Paper Studio.  The rings are cut on the silver cardstock using the Designer's Calendar cricut cartridge.

This is the inside of the lid.  The inside paper is BW Swirls by Colorbok.

Here is the first layer.  The middle is the silver cardstock run through the cuttlebug using the D'vine Swirl embossing folder.  The patterned paper is Purple Happiness by Paper Pizazz/Hot Off the Press.

Here is the second layer.  It is cut from silver glitter cardstock from The Glitter Cardstock Stack by DCWV.  Finally, below, is the last layer.  It is Dotted Stripes by Paper Pizazz/Hot Off the Press.  The flower cutout is from the Stretch Your Imagination cricut cartridge.  The "love" is cut from the Beyond Birthdays cricut cartridge.

Thanks for reading through this long post.  I hope you're just a bit inspired by my creation.  The bride-to-be loved it, and everyone at the party wanted to look through it.  I think it was a hit!

Baby Gift

My husband's co-worker's wife (got that?) just had a baby very early this morning.  It has been a rough pregnancy for her, so we are all glad both mom and Kodie Miracle are doing well.  I made a card and gift to welcome the new little one.

This is a 5x7 card.  The front is covered in pink cardstock by Paper Reflections.  The patterned paper is from The Glitter Stack by DCWV and is cut at 4-1/4x6-1/4".  The white paper is from DCWV's The Glitter Cardstock Stack and is cut at 2x7".  The letters are cut using the Hannah Montana Cricut cartridge at 1-1/4" on cocoa cardstock by Close To My Heart.  The ribbon is 3/8" cocoa grosgrain by Close To My Heart.  All the cardstock edges are inked with Close To My Heart's cocoa inkpad.  Finally, I accented the letters with cinnamon stickles by Ranger.

On the inside, I put a piece of 1x7" cocoa cardstock at the bottom of the card.  I cut the pink cardstock at 5x7 and then punched the bottom with a Martha Stewart border punch.  The sentiment is a Close To My Heart stamp from the Baby Miracles set.

Finally, here is the gift.  I had made this many months ago, for no one in particular at that time.  When we found out they were having a girl, I knew this would be the perfect gift.  It is knit on the diagonal with a self-striping yarn by Bernat called Baby Coordinates Sweet Stripes.

Yummmm!!!

I mentioned before that I am a Girl Scout leader for my daughter's Junior troop.  Our meeting last week was snowed out, so we rescheduled for this week.  Of course the meeting that got snowed out was one we were completely prepared for and had everything purchased and ready well ahead of time.

We are talking about Chinese New Year today, since it officially became the "Year of the Tiger" on February 14.  My co-leader has all the crafts set and ready to go, and I just finished the "snack" which I will reheat once we get to the meeting.  My troop would be happy to eat the entire meeting if we let them.

We are having sesame-soy noodles, jiaozi (steamed dumplings) and mandarin oranges.  The noodles and dumplings are both homemade.  I had never made dumplings before and was surprised by just how easy they were to make.  I taste-tested (I had to make sure they were okay to serve), and they are fabulous!  Both recipes came from the Family Fun website.

Bridal Shower Card

As promised, here's the card I made yesterday using my Cricut and Cuttlebug machines.

This card is for my cousin's briday shower; her colors are an eggplant purple and silver.  The papers were all purchased from open stock (no stacks this time) and were:  Boysenberry Cardstock by ANW Crestwood, Metallic Silver by DCWV, and Soft Tints Lavender Swirls by Paper Pizazz/Hot Off The Press.

The card was cut using the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge with the fit to page feature, which cut the card at 5-1/2".  I cut the card frame as well at 5-1/2" (make sure to turn off the fit to page).  I used a metallic silver paint marker to emphasize the lines on the groom.  I filled in the heart cutout on the frame using lavender stickles by Ranger.  The silver cardstock was run through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

The inside of the card was covered in the lavender swirl paper cut at 5-1/4".  The "best wishes" was cut using the Cuttin' Up Cricut cartridge at 1-1/4" from the boysenberry cardstock.

Getting Snowed In Again

The snow is falling again; we're supposed to get another 8 - 12" of snow before all is said and done.  We're settling in, as school has already been cancelled for tomorrow.  Luckily, I stopped at Hobby Lobby today to get a new "toy" to be snowed in with.

I purchased a Cuttlebug, so that I can do some embossing.  Funny thing....my husband actually gave me a Cuttlebug for my birthday (8 months ago) after I hinted and gave him a coupon to use.  He took the hint and purchased it for me but didn't use the coupon.  I told him he spent too much and took it back with the promise that I would replace it using a coupon or sale.  So it took me awhile, but I finally made good on my promise.

I have already made a card tonight with my Cricut and Cuttlebug.  I will post it tomorrow when I have some good light for taking photos.  For all of you in "snow country", enjoy the snow day.  Stay in and do some crafting.

Happy Valentine's Day

I feel like I've been making Valentine after Valentine.  Here is the last one I made yesterday for my husband.

The front of the card is covered in cardstock from The Glitter Stack by DCWV.  The red and black cardstock is from The Christmas Cardstock Stack by DCWV.  The graphic is cut on the Cricut using Graphically Speaking at 4".  The me and you are covered in liquid glass by Close To My Heart.

The inside is very simple.  I cut the together using Graphically Speaking using the fit to length feature at 6". 

Hope everyone has had a wonderful Valentine's Day.  My husband and I celebrated last night with a rare dinner out alone.  Today was spent with family and enjoying a turkey dinner this evening. 

Fluttering By Valentine

Here is my daughter's valentine card.  It is a 5x7" card.  The front and inside are covered in pink cardstock from DCWV's Fun in the Sun Summer Cardstock Stack with the edges inked black.  The white and light pink cardstock are from DCWV's The Glitter Cardstock Stack.  The butterfly is cut on the Cricut using the Hannah Montana cartridge at 4".  The wording is handprinted using a metallic silver paint pen.

The inside of the card uses Close To My Heart's stamp set Say It in Style.  The "fabulous" is cut using Graphically Speaking on the jumbled feature at 3".

Mooove Closer Valentine

I made this card for my niece who is 22 months old.  Her family raises Angus cows, and she loves animals.

The front of the card is covered in pink, black and white cardstock is from DCWV's Fun in the Sun Summer Cardstock Stack.  The pink gingham paper is from The Basics stack by The Paper Studio.  The cow and shadow were cut at 4" using the Animal Kingdom Cricut cartridge.  The "mooove" was cut at 1-1/2" using the Cuttin' Up cartridge "Holy Cow" button.  I traced the lines on the cow and wrote closer using a white gel pen.

For the inside of the card I used the computer to type out the rest of the sentiment.  The ribbon is called Dashes, Dots and Checkers, and I can't remember which craft store I purchased it at.  I put a few candies into a small ziplock baggie and attached it to the card using glue dots.

60th Birthday Card

My dad's 60th birthday is soon, so I've been working on a card for him.  Have you ever had one of those "well, duh" moments.  I had one of those while working on this card.  I used the car from the "enjoy the ride" button on Graphically Speaking, and I just couldn't figure out what some of the icons were.  Oh well, if I couldn't figure out what they were, I decided they must not be important.  Off I go, creating my card, putting the layers of my car together.  My husband came up to see my progress later and says, "Your car could really use some wheels".  Well, DUH - the light went on; the unknown icons.  We had a good laugh over that one.

On to the card, you already know I am using Graphically Speaking Cricut cartridge.  I cut everything on the front of the card using that cartridge.  The spotted paper on the front of the card comes from the Fall In Love Glitter Book by My Mind's Eye.  The red and black cardstock came from the Fun In the Sun stack by DCWV.  I inked the edges of the card and added some accents to the tires and the enjoy the ride using a white gel pen.

On the inside of the card, I cut Happy Birthday using the Wild Card cartridge onto the spotted paper from the front of the card.  I glued it onto some of the leftover black cardstock and cut a freehand cloud around the words.  I added 60th with my white gel pen and "stickled" around the edge using Black Diamond stickles by Ranger.

Yet Another Valentine

Okay, after having no mojo, I've now gotten into a "card kick" and have been crankin' out the cards.  I have another Valentine that I actually made two identical cards - one for my parents and the other for my in-laws.  One lives in Ohio, the other Alabama, so I don't feel too bad about giving them the same card.  I really liked the colors and thought it turned out very pretty.

The card itself is a 5x6" card cut from cardstock from The Sorbet Stack by DCWV.  The heart on the front is cut on the Cricut at 4" using the Hannah Montana Cartridge  The paper that the heart and sentiment is cut from is The Basics Paper Pack from The Paper Studio.  The heart is "blinged up" using eucalyptus stickles by Ranger.  Finally, the ribbon is something from my stash that I found on clearance at one of the local craft stores; it is from a ribbon color wheel by Offray.

On the inside of the card, I used some leftover paper that was inked around the edges.  The sentiment is cut with the Designer's Calendar cartridge using the fit to length feature at 4".  The happy is stamped using ocean ink from Close To My Heart and a stamp from Close To My Heart's Say It In Style set.  Finally, a few highlights with the same stickles on the front and voila!

Another Valentine

I'm snowed in here.  The kids have been out of school for two days; I've been home from work.  Unfortunately, I haven't had much crafting mojo.  I did finally sit down today and get this Valentine done for my grandparents.  They used to raise sheep years ago, so I've been thinking for days about how to incorporate a sheep into their card.

The card is a 5x7" card.  I covered it in a green gingham from a paper stack called The Basics from The Paper Studio and inked the edges black.  The heart and inside sentiment also come from the same paper stack.  The other paper is all from scraps I had sitting around.

• The heart is cut on the Cricut using Designer's Calendar at 2".  It is accented using magenta stickles by Ranger.
• The sheep is cut in white (used markers prior to cutting to make the features easier to see) and again in black using the shadow feature at 4".  The sheep came from Animal Kingdom.  Once cut, I put white flocking on the sheep's body and top of the head.  I colored the black sheep accents with watercolor pencils and then used liquid glass from Close To My Heart.  A CTMH consultant once told me that there was enough "liquid" in liquid glass to make watercolor pencils look "watercolor-y".
• The fence is cut on the Cricut as well using the My World cartridge.  It was cut using the fit to length feature at 5".  I then cut the layer at 4-1/4" using the real dial size.  I inked the edges of the layers with black before gluing them on.  I used a  black pen to draw along the edges of the fence to give them a little more definition.
• The fence is attached with foam tape to "make it pop".  I ended up cutting off the bottom portion of the fence to make it shorter, because it covered up too much of the sheep.

For the inside, I cut a 4" square from the green gingham paper and inked the edges.  I cut "Valentine's Day" using Designer's Calendar using the fit to length feature at 4-1/2".  The happy stamp is from the Close To My Heart stamp set Say It In Style.  The accents are dots of magenta stickles.


I am very pleased with this card.  I normally have "blank" insides, so was pleased with how well the "outside" came in.

Wrestling Valentine

My nearly 16-year old son would rather die than admit he gets a Valentine from his mother, but he gets one just the same every year.  I decided to go with a "non-Valentine" Valentine for him this year.  I wanted to do something relating to wrestling, because he is nearing the post-season, and it is such a big part of his life. 

I was stumped on what to say though.  Happy Valentine's Day didn't seem to go with a picture of a wrestler.  I put out a "call for help" to my fellow "Cricuteers" on the Cricut message board and had several great responses.  I ended up going with KarenDKrafter's suggestion.  Thank you KarenDKrafter!!!

Here is what I created:

The orange diamond paper is from The Basics paper stack by The Paper Company.  The card is a 5x7" card.  The other cardstock is simply scraps I had laying around.  The hearts are cut on my Cricut using the Wild Card cartridge at 3-1/2".  The wrestlers are cut on the Cricut using Sports Mania at 3-1/2".  I cut the wrestlers, the blackout, and the layers.  I did end up inking the edges of the card black after I took the photo.

On the inside of the card, I used a computer to print most of the sentiment.  The "wrestling" is a Close To My Heart stamp from the new In The Game - Wrestling set.  The "I Love You" is cut at 2-1/2" using the Wild Card cartridge again.  I covered it with Faded Denim Stickles, because "mom's always gotta put in a bit of bling".

Valentines

I can't believe it's February already.  I do have my daughter's Valentine's done (with some help from her).  We had made "favor boxes" for her classmates using my Cricut for the Halloween party and decided to do the same for the Valentine's Day party.  She then decided that she was just going to use the boxes as her Valentine's.  Ever the "wise one", she said they really only wanted the candy, so why waste more paper making Valentines that would just get thrown away or recycled.

Using the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut cartridge, I cut the box with the heart on top and heart window at 6-1/2".  By cutting them this size, I can get two on a piece of cardstock by flipping my mat around and running it through the Cricut in the opposite direction. 

I used plain cardstock I had, and I'm not sure who made it.  I decided to make three different colors of boxes - red, pink and purple.  I used the heart cut-outs from the windows to decorate the opposite side of the box.  I cut out two squares for each box using the shift key and any of the square-shaped items from Accent Essentials.  The paper on the squares was from "The Glitter Stack" by DCWV.

I added a clear inlay inside the box to keep the contents inside using clear plastic containers (Cricut cartridge boxes work great) that I had been saving for just this purpose.

I inked the edges of the squares using a brown ink pad.  The "Be Mine" stamp is from a Close To My Heart set called Say It In Style.

I finished with some stickles by Ranger.  I used Cotton Candy on the pink, X-mas Red on the red, and Starry Night on the purple.  I filled the boxes with shredded gift basket paper and candy.  There are now sitting and waiting on "the big day".
